We have developed a strong position opposing the proposed cell phone site at Cash'n'Carry revealing T-Mobile's disregard for the Culver City Municipal Code and misleading information from the applicants.

Were almost there!
After over 9 months of community organization and action with a balanced and thoughtful response from Culver City Council and Planning Department, a new application to place the T-Mobile facility at the Studio Village shopping center is in the works!

We have submitted comments and objections, and will be informed of any decision by the City Planner regarding the permit. Technically the city Planner has till April, but may decide sooner. We then have 15 days to appeal to the Planning Commission should he choose to issue. We will appeal and be heard for the first time by a decision making  body with that appeal!

Thanks to all who attended the Sawtelle Tower Group (STG) meeting on Monday Dec. 21. That standing room only crowd was united in their concern and opposition to the proposed base station and anxious to discuss the situation and their options. Councilman Gary Silbiger addressed the gathering with information and listened to concerns. Council candidate Meghan Sahli-Wells contributed valuable advice as did Laura Stuart, a representative for Jeff Cooper's city council campaign. On display was the letter delivered to the owners of Cash'n'Cary, the Israelys, expressing the concerns of the community and an invitation for them to attend the meeting. Read about it in Wednesdays (12-23-09) Culver City News and Ari Noonan's The Front Page Online.  http://www.thefrontpageonline.com/ .

We had a great 'Community Meeting' meeting at Culver City Hall on Tue, Jan. 19. There was a good turn out despite the weather. The meeting began with a sincere apology from Mark Scott, City Manager for the poor notice provided by the City in this matter, and we thank him. Councilman Gary Silbigger and School board member Karlo Silbigger were in the audience, and the panel included the City Attorney and Planner. The conversation ranged from constructive to distraught, but we learned valuable information from Aaron Anderson, who represents T-Mobile in this endevor. We have submitted our comments and recommendations to the city and will continue to develop our opposition to the Cash'nCarry base station. Our comments describe the serous impact to the neighborhood and numerous citations of misleading information in the Cash and Carry application and T-Mobiles Coverage information as well as health issues which the city cannot consider. The City Planner has several weeks to come to a decision.

Send your email address via: stopsawtelletower@gmail.com if you would like to stay informed about the situation, and let us know if you are interested in helping in the effort. We can only prevail together!
